FINNISH HEROIC METALLERS SET TO RELEASE ‘LUSTDRIVEN’, THEIR FOURTH FULL STUDIO ALBUM, ON APRIL 26th 2010 VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS UK… FOLLOWING ON from ‘The New Dark Age’, their Finnish Top 10 album released in 2008, epic metallers KIUAS (pronounced ‘Key-wass’) have confirmed that latest outing ‘Lustdriven’ will be made available through Spinefarm Records UK as of April 26th 2010. A 10-track affair produced by Janne Joutsenniemi (Ensiferum, Suburban Tribe and Stone) and mixed by Mikko Karmila (Children Of Bodom, Nightwish), ‘Lustdriven’ sees the Finnish five-piece – from the town of Espoo, near Helsinki – further creating a signature style that draws from a broad range of influences; these include both power metal & prog, with death, symphonic & folk metal also playing a part, the whole thing topped off with a healthy sprinkling of myth & legend, plus the soul-stirring vocals of high-energy frontman Ilja Jalkanen. As well as lead track ‘The Quickening’, the album features songs such as ‘Cry Little Angel’, ‘Of Love, Lust And Human Nature’ & ‘Lights Are Many’ – ambitious compositions displaying the development that has taken place in the band’s 10-year history. “On this new album, we’ve kept the most aggressive elements of KIUAS,” says guitarist Mikko Salovaara, “everything is very raw and in your face. THE NEW ALBUM is now ready, and hence the long months of work with it is finally over. The fourth KIUAS record will be called "LUSTDRIVEN" and date of release is the 31st of March (in Finland, other countries TBA) via Spinefarm Records. There will be also limited VINYL edition available. Pre-order info coming soon. The CD was produced by Janne Joutsenniemi, who previously worked with the band on the pre-production of their last album, "The New Dark Age". Kiuas is featured on the Dimebag Darrell tribute CD with tracks from Machine Head, Biohazard, Zakk Wylde and more. Kiuas is doing cover of the "Vulgar Display Of Power" classic, "This Love". The CD will come packaged with issue 200 of Metal Hammer – on sale December 16th! Mikko Salovaara's comments about the song choice: "Pantera has always been a huge influence and an all-time favourite for most of the members of Kiuas. We used to play Pantera covers when we first got together being 14 or something. 'This Love' is one hell of a classic, and with it's diversity and dynamics, it was a great choice to cover. Recordings of the 4th KIUAS studio album has just started at Sonic Pump Studios. The producer for the entire project will be Janne Joutsenniemi. Janne was already involved with the pre-production of the last album. Mikko Karmila at Finnvox will mix the album. The album mastering is booked for the end of January 2010 and will be done by Svante Forsbäck at Chartmakers. Yagshimash, ladies and gentlemen! And greetings from the mountains of Crom, let me bring you songs from the wood...sorry, I got carried away. SO, it's been a while since we've informed you of our comings and goings on, and there have been some questions and speculations as to what Kiuas is up to, or are we up to anything... WELL, fear not my comrades! To make a long story short: We'll be entering the studio no later than in the end of NOVEMBER, and start recording our fourth full-length studio album. There are about 10 new masterpieces almost completely written, which we are polishing and finetuning as I write these words. The album is set to be released in MARCH 2010 in Finland, other areas TBA. Naturally this is and has been the reason for not doing gigs for a while, since the writing, arranging and practing of the songs demands our full focus. After the release, we will start touring, the dates will be announced once confirmed (but hold your horses until next year, kids!). As to what can you expect: expect nothing and everything! After all, making a Kiuas record is like pouring dragon egg yolk, absinth and Tabasco into Frank Zappa's mouth while his asleep and asking him to write a symphony about the dreams he had when he wakes up... although, ...well anyway... OR, going out with the members of Kiuas: you never know what's gonna happen. SO, stay tuned, boys and girls, and don't forget to change your underwear and brush your teeth...and remember your carbs and proteins before you go wooly mammoth hunting! KIUAS, THE Finnish five-piece who were last seen in the UK Special Guesting with Firewind, have been added to the bill for Hammerfest 2009. The Metal Hammer sponsored festival will take place on April 24th & 25th at Pontins Holiday Camp in Prestatyn, North Wales, with Kiuas set to appear on the 24th. Other bands on the bill include Opeth, Saxon, Sepultura & Hammerfall. Kiuas will perform at Tavastia, Helsinki in Saturday 7th of March. Other bands for the evening are Insomnium and Dauntless. The event is an opening party for the new Metalheim Agency. 28.1.2009 - KIUAS Debut US Performance!
Kiuas is confirmed to play at Chicago Powerfest 2009 (USA) on May 8-9, 2009. Other bands: Novembers Doom, Personal War, Assailant, Sheephead and Mindwarp Chamber. The remaining bands, which also include both headliners and both direct supports, will be announced shortly and as they become confirmed.
