Kiuas will play a show at Helsinki's DOM on 28th of Jan, and after that we will focus on new material in our chambers. Of course some occasional shows might be done but for the moment our booking agent won't be actively lining up gigs. The next step is to sign a new record deal and start planning the schedule for our next album. Ilja's last show with Kiuas will be at Nosturi on the 15th of January. The evening is also a memoriam for our friend Lauri Mailasalo, who has worked with the band during the years. Lauri was diagnosed with leukemia and passed away only a couple of months ago. The profit from the concert will go to Sylva Ry, a foundation that helps children with leukemia and their parents. Hello folks! We have some startling news: our lead singer Ilja Jalkanen has decided to leave the band after some serious thinking. The reasons for this are purely musical and the chemistry within the band has always been great. In Ilja’s own words: “My heart is not in heavy metal anymore, and a great band like Kiuas deserves a singer completely dedicated to the music.” However, as all the fans know, although Ilja has been the voice of Kiuas for many years, his contribution to the songwriting has been very minimal and thus his departure won’t affect the bands musical direction or diminish the power of the music in the future in any way. The fact is that Kiuas will be able to continue it’s musical journey with passion only without Ilja – this is the only way to go. Unfortunately Ilja won’t be able to perform the gigs we have booked for October 29th-31st. We we’re on the verge of cancelling them, but luckily we were able to get talented vocalist Asim Searah to stand in for Ilja on those gigs. We apologize for announcing this so late, but we had agreed with the local promoters to do the UK tour before we announced Ilja leaving the band. We also have some good news: Ilja will still perform a farewell gig with Kiuas in Helsinki in January 2011. The exact date and venue will be announced later. 22.10.2010 - UK tour diary online

SPINEFARM RECORDS TAKES TO THE ROAD FOR THE ‘BONESHAKERS 2010’ UK TOUR For the first time in the label’s history, three acts signed to the Spinefarm label will embark on a series of UK shows in tandem, flying the flag for epic heavy metal (Finnish five-piece KIUAS), authentic folk metal ( Estonian quartet Metsatöll) & dramatic power metal (Finnish sextet Celesty). KIUAS, who have played in the UK on a number of occasions, including an appearance at the Bloodstock Open Air Festival plus a full run of dates with Firewind, will headline all of the shows, with Metsatöll providing the meat in the middle, and Celesty (who have also featured on the Bloodstock bill) opening the bill. KIUAS recently released their latest album, ‘Lustdriven’, supported by the single/video ‘Of Love, Lust & Human Nature’, following hard on the heels of ‘Aio’ – Metsatöll‘s first release for the Spinefarm label. Celesty’s latest offering, ‘Vendetta’, came out in 2009, and saw the six heading deep into symphonic / progressive rock territory, with tracks such as ‘Lord (Of This Kingdom)’, ‘Like Warriors’ and first video ‘Fading Away’ showing that musical ambition doesn’t have to lead to any loss of power. Latest news from the camp is that the band now have a new frontman, with previous singer Antti Railio having recently been replaced by Tony Turunen – brother of former Nightwish frontwoman, Tarja. FINNISH HEROIC METALLERS SET TO RELEASE ‘LUSTDRIVEN’, THEIR FOURTH FULL STUDIO ALBUM, ON APRIL 26th 2010 VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS UK… FOLLOWING ON from ‘The New Dark Age’, their Finnish Top 10 album released in 2008, epic metallers KIUAS (pronounced ‘Key-wass’) have confirmed that latest outing ‘Lustdriven’ will be made available through Spinefarm Records UK as of April 26th 2010. A 10-track affair produced by Janne Joutsenniemi (Ensiferum, Suburban Tribe and Stone) and mixed by Mikko Karmila (Children Of Bodom, Nightwish), ‘Lustdriven’ sees the Finnish five-piece – from the town of Espoo, near Helsinki – further creating a signature style that draws from a broad range of influences; these include both power metal & prog, with death, symphonic & folk metal also playing a part, the whole thing topped off with a healthy sprinkling of myth & legend, plus the soul-stirring vocals of high-energy frontman Ilja Jalkanen. As well as lead track ‘The Quickening’, the album features songs such as ‘Cry Little Angel’, ‘Of Love, Lust And Human Nature’ & ‘Lights Are Many’ – ambitious compositions displaying the development that has taken place in the band’s 10-year history. “On this new album, we’ve kept the most aggressive elements of KIUAS,” says guitarist Mikko Salovaara, “everything is very raw and in your face. THE NEW ALBUM is now ready, and hence the long months of work with it is finally over. The fourth KIUAS record will be called "LUSTDRIVEN" and date of release is the 31st of March (in Finland, other countries TBA) via Spinefarm Records. The CD was produced by Janne Joutsenniemi, who previously worked with the band on the pre-production of their last album, "The New Dark Age".
