This is the debut album by a young metal band, and I would say its the best Finnish metal album for quite some time! Kiuas basically plays melodic power metal, but unlike most other bands in that genre they are not boring at all, and not very predictable. The songs with their catchy, somewhat Manowar-like, power metal choruses are spiced up by some very fast and intense blastbeats and shredding (a bit like Children of Bodom), and also among other things some acoustic folk and progressive elements. Especially considering that the band members are young and previously unknown, they are very skillful. The guitarist and main songwriter Mikko Salovaara is for example excellent, and the powerful but also flexible singer Ilja Jalkanen is perfect for this kind of music. An unusual but cool thing about Jalkanen is that he adds some bluesy bends in his melodies.
