Holy Mary the mother of God!! Am I too drunk or what?! These guys really did it! After being hit in the face from the very first intro guitar riffs, I was sure that KIUAS made a "real" step forward with this 2nd demo. It was unclear what these young 5 guys wanted to do with their previous demo. At least to me, they seemed to look for the way they should go at that time... but now they seem to have found it; the right way to go.

From the opening "Warrior Soul" I was knocked out. The good amount of aggression, heaviness, melody and technique that CHILDREN OF BODOM have once showed with their very first album are also here inside of their demo! Well, like I already said, it's actually not a really good idea to write a fame's name to express new bands' musical style because it is dangerous enough to give you a totally wrong idea how they sound like. But I have to say it to give you an image of KIUAS' great demo that their music is now going in the direction of melodic aggressive heavy metal influenced by COB's aggressive AND melodic side. I don't like to call KIUAS music as "death" or "black" metal because it's NOT. They are not abusing so-called "death voices", either. Their main vision remains in the country called FINLAND, I think. In my opinion, they try to express their lovely country with music, giving us imagination how Finland was or used to be long time ago... or even in the future. Look at the cover art and listen to the CD. You see? Your imagination has now started to travel in Finland. Unique point they have is a lot of folk and viking elements in their music as well. ENSIFERUM could be a good band to name here as a comparison!? CHILDREN OF BODOM meets FALCONER!? Mmm... I think they are not that far off the mark, but a bit different here for sure.

Anyway, what I'm sure is they composed far better songs than those on the last demo, played far better than it, arranged far better than it and the most important thing is that they now know what they are doing. Ilja's singing is also far better here. Concerning to Mikko's playing, it has already somekind of charisma. All songs are composed by this great guitar player, too. Well, what do I have to say now... all the heavy metal labels, DO CATCH THEM AS LONG AS YOU CAN! ... otherwise it will be too late.

Ha? Should the band name be changed for an international release? Mm, might be, but don't ask me about that. I'm already satisfied enough to sleep well with this demo which was born under the northern lights...
